Introduction

The labs at Oxford College are well-maintained with modern equipment, ensuring that students have access to the necessary resources for a comprehensive education. The college encourages practical learning, offering students the opportunity to conduct experiments, work on projects, and gain experience that enhances their academic and professional skills.

Computer and Network Associated Labs

There are 5 different labs related to Computer and Networks education and services in college at main building’s first floor with more than 140 computers. There 3 branded mainframe computers, first time installed in Nepal for the Internet facility is a Internet Surfing Lab. Each lab is installed with modern furniture, well network infrastructure and computers with latest configuration.

  3. Development Lab - the development of software by using different platforms
  4. Internet Lab - the surfing web contents including multimedia
  5. Training Lab - the specific certification training and examination laboratory

General Science Labs

There are 4 different labs related to general science and used for experiments and verification of different theorems and principles. Each lab is equipped with lab instruments, accessories, chemicals and reagents as the nature of the lab. General science labs are located at the top floor of the main academic building. These are named as

Civil Engineering Labs

Civil engineering is a broad field of engineering that deals with the planning, construction, and maintenance of fixed structures, or public works, as they are related to earth, water, or civilization and their processes. Department of civil engineering is producing quality engineers, fully capable for dedicated to the development of nation. The motto of civil labs is to minimize the gap between theory and real-life problem guided as by the syllabus and market demands. All the labs are installed at the basement of New Academic Building and they are named as:

  1. Mechanical Workshop
  2. It is basic lab for the foundation of engineering education, equipped 98 various traditional and modern and tools for manufacturing products. This lab contains various modern machines such as Lathe, Shaper, Milling Machine; bench vice, tools grinder, gas wielding, rapid prototyping machines, etc. This central facility is availaSable for design and manufacturing of products to all the faculties and students of all the departments. It is used for the mechanical workshop and robotic works. This lab is headed by Er. Santosh Gurung, a mechanical engineering, who did MTech in Mechanical Engineering.

  3. Thermal Lab
  4. The Thermal engineering lab is designed to explore the physical effects of energy transport particularly in nanoscale structures to obtain a better understanding of the physical world that can lead to engineering discoveries in energy applications. The focus is in impact of heat energy transport in semiconductor devices designed for energy conversion. This includes thermoelectric devices, solar cells, and fuel cells, etc. Another focus area is in heat flux measurement using thermo graphic phosphors and ultrasonic approaches. There are various equipment in the thermal lab as Four Stroke Engine, Two Stroke Engine, Generator (Diesel Engine), Air Compressor, Refrigeration Set, Emmissibility measurement , Petrol Engine, Thermal Conductivity Machine.

  5. Fluid & Hydrology Lab
  6.   7. Water Supply and Sanitary Lab
  8. These laboratories are used to teach the basic principles of Water Supply Engineering and Sanitary Engineering. These are used ENV 4401L, the Water Laboratory, with a project-based set of experiments undertaken each semester. The students select a problem contaminant, such as lead or cadmium, review the literature on its prevalence and associated health risks, develop analytical methods to measure their chosen contaminant in the lab, and proceed to demonstrate the effectiveness of conventional water treatment methods at removing this contaminant from the source water. The students make use of equipment and supplies in the EAS 3760 and EAS 3625 labs. This laboratory course acquaints the students with the experimental techniques and approaches used to study major processes in water treatment. The laboratory is practically focused to verify knowledge learned in ENV 4401, which is a co-requisite of ENV 4401L. The equipment available is identical to that for the environmental laboratory.

  9. Strength of Materials
  10. Strength of Materials Laboratory offers facilities for testing building materials for their strength, behavior and suitability for various applications. The various equipment available in the lab are,

    4. Digital Compression testing machine 3000 kN capacity
    5. Digital Compression testing machine 500 kN capacity

  11. Materials and Concrete Lab
  12. Structural analysis laboratory is a research centric computational lab used to solve the construction works like beam & columns of building, bridges, etc. Several high-end state-of-the-art computational models of composite structures; modeling and analysis of structures; adaptive modeling of laminated plates; structural optimization and stochastic analysis of laminated structures. This lab consists following models/instruments for full covering of lab assignments. They are Three hinged arch, Simply supported beam, Suspension cable bridge, Symmetrical frame, Unsymmetrical frame, Two hinged arch, Truss for determining member forces.

Strength Testing Machine, Impact Test Machine, Ductility testing Machine, Sieve Shaker Machine, Electronic scale, Heating Plate, Bitumen Penetration Testing Machine, Water Bath, Hot Air Oven, Rockwell hardness testing Machine, Vicat's Apparatus, Moisture testing Machine

  13. Surveying Lab with Store
  14. Total Station, Digital Theodolite, Level Machine, Tripod, Prism Tripod, Arrow, Umbrella, Hammer, Ranging rod, Prism, Staff, Measuring Tape, Abney Level, GPS, Plumb bob, Compass, Compass Tripod.

  15. Structure Lab

  17. Hydropower Lab
  18. The Waterpower Laboratory at Oxford contains with state-of-the-art facilities that are unique in private college. It has played a leading role in the development of national hydropower, including efficient design of hydro turbines. The laboratory offers a high pressure pumping system, a long conduit to investigate discharge measurement techniques and several other test facilities for basic research in fluid mechanics. This lab consists various equipment as 2KW Pelton Turbine Set hydropower, Hydraulic Jump test machine, Headloss Check Machine, Impact Jet and orifice, Reynolds Apparatus, Ventury Meter, Fluid manometers.

  19. Transportation Lab
  20. Experiments to characterize pavement materials like, viscosity tests, ageing tests, skid tests, etc. It is also used bituminous mixes, like mix design related experiments, moisture sensitivity related experiments, etc. Experiments related to traffic data collections on speed, volume, travel time, delay, etc. Traffic studio (students will learn to use geometric design software and video data analysis software). Demonstrations of various exiting works in the road construction sites in Nepal.

  21. Soil Mechanics Lab
  22. Broadly Geotechnical Engineering encompasses two distinct segments: Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering. Soil Mechanics deals with study of physical properties of soils, and the relevance of these properties as they affect soil strength, stability, and drainage. Foundation engineering deals with (i) selection of foundation type based on building site conditions and site constraints, (ii) determining size and reinforcement of the foundation and (iii) finally construction of foundation element.

Electrical & Electronics Engineering Labs

Electrical and Electronics engineering is new discipline blended the two domains electrical and electronics. There are …labs in college, installed the 6th floor of the New Academic building. College has installed modern equipment in the different labs broad field of engineering that deals with the planning, construction, and maintenance of fixed structures, or public works, as they are related to earth, water, or civilization and their processes. Oxford Fine Dining Restaurant

The Oxford Fine Dining Restaurant is an on-campus, fully operational restaurant where students gain practical experience in fine dining service and management.

  3. Students rotate roles (chef, server, manager) to understand all aspects of restaurant operations.

Bar

The Bar Lab trains students in mixology, beverage management, and bar operations.
